100 day Trip Update- The Breakdown

  • April 29, 2016

So on day 12, I had a mini breakdown… Having stayed with friends for four days before, I experienced extreme luxury and was spoilt with great conversation. From that, I went into complete solitude. No cellphone reception, no people around me, barely any roads. I didn’t even stay at camp terrains. I literally set up camp at the side of the road. This made me quite venerable and very aware of my surroundings, for pretty much 24hours a day. I barely closed an eye.   I would describe myself as a cautious person. Weighing up risks carefully before taking them on. In this case I weighed...

100 day Trip Update: Day 5-11 Summarized

  • April 26, 2016

I think the word of the trip so far is “WOW”. I am seeing the most incredible places and experiencing them in all their glory.   On day 6, I slept on a very remote farm in the Karroo where God literally brought me to my knees. I witnessed an incredible lightning storm passing through. Making me feel so small. I’ll give you an example: South Africa has beautiful passes through mountains, with dramatic rock formations, but I challenge you to photograph it and look at the images afterwards, while thinking “Wow!! What an incredible picture!” You probably won’t say or think that. At that moment however, you thought, “Wow!! This is incredible.” Yes,...

Hello World!!!

  • April 5, 2016

This is my first blog post EVER, and I appreciate you reading this. Today I thought I would do a quick introduction on me, myself, and I and share some of my ambitions as a young professional photographer. I am currently 24 years old and I live in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. In 2013, I completed my BTECH at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, majoring in Photography. More specifically in environmental studies and photographic documentation, exploring the current water system of South Africa. This project opened some sparkly doors in the environmental field but not enough to be my only...
